Costume design noodling for a (hopefully painted-type) piece — Thor Roman AU inspired by Joannaestep’s African AU as well as all the other great period/culture AUs I’ve seen floating around Tumblr.
Notes:
1) Loki: vassal prince, maybe Pictish or Briton? Woad is the important part! I’m following the tattoo theory because early UK patternwork reminds me of the scarification designs in the movie. Gold torc — and possibly chain — to echo the neckpiece in the movie costume. And, of course, big fat furry GoT-style layered fur cloak. (There is also a famous horned ceremonial helm from the period I may try to work in. >.>b)
2) Thor: soldier-emperor, or son of one, at least. Helmet with wing details, breastplate with iconic circle-thingies. Can’t decide whether to go with a gray long sleeved under-shirt or good old chain mail — you see chain shirts in Roman armor, but I’ve yet to find an example with long sleeves. The cloak will be that great deep red, which is my favorite bit of commonality. No Mjolnir yet because I’m thinking that’s going to be a big part of the finished image and I still need to figure it out. :3
