polygonal replied to your photo: I tested my hypothesis I’m pretty sure I regret…

weirdly enough, upon drawing this I think I understood for the first time what this artist was actually going for. Perspective???

HOT TOYS / HAWKEYE / REVIEW

The good news is that I have a nice new camera, so this review will have nice new camera photos. The bad news is that I have a nice new camera soooo … I may have gone overboard. Onto the toy!

^ The first layer. There are fewer hands than Nick Fury, but I’m not too fussed because I rarely change the hands (and when I do, it ends in tears and whiskey).

^ Head sculpt beauty shots! I don’t think he’s quite as dead-on as Nick Fury or Tony Stark, but I like that someone was paying attention to the eyebrows. Drawn on Sharpie eyebrows would have been a real boner-killer.

^ EVERYTHING APPEARS TO BE IN ORDER HERE

^ Gorgeous detailing here, but this is one of those areas where I’d have preferred function over form. These treads make balancing the figure without support a very fussy endeavor.

^ Aaaand this is where I remembered he came with sunglasses.

^ MUSCULAR BODY

^ The toys! He comes with two bows (one foldable — minus the bowstring — and one fully assembled with a nice elastic bowstring), a quiver, twenty or so arrows, and an assortment of specialized arrowheads. The arrows can either be customized with the arrowheads or stuffed in the quiver in whatever arrangement suits your fancy. That’s one thing I love about Hot Toys — wherever possible, they leave the details up to you to customize.

^ More quiver and arrows details as well as my hand for scale. I ended up selecting the explodey-looking arrowhead for my display purposes.

^ Here’s the pose I ended up with. Early on, I realized it was gonna be impossible to get him into anything resembling a proper aim pose; this isn’t so much a fault of this sculpt as of the way action figures in general are constructed. Overall, Hawkeye most resembles Nick Fury in his poseability. His joints aren’t too loose or too stiff, and it’s a lot easier to get him into naturalistic poses than Cap or Iron Man. And despite the sole tread issue, he has a good center of balance — of all my figures, he seems best at achieving light, dynamic poses.

(I got the fletching more firmly anchored in his hand later, with one arrow as a casualty. [It snapped in half. Again, not the toy’s fault; I was manhandling it.] One fantastic little detail I discovered in the process is that the arrows have nocks!)

(rofl he’s got the bow upside down in these photos i swear i fixed it later)

^ Four down!

Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
--Kurt Vonnegut
