"Downtime" - Another piece for my Imagined Realms project on kickstarter.
This originally was just the woman and the dragon, but a few months back my orange tabby cat Cody passed away, and I wanted to include him in one of the pieces. Cody was a very sweet kitty, my little sunshine boy. (The other cat is Max, my snowshoe Siamese; we got him last year and he is very happy, although his crossed eyes tend to make him look bewildered most of the time).
Edit: Also, one of the stretch goals for my kickstarter is a video download that shows how this piece was made. :)
Imagined Realms: Book 1
I have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the first issue of Imagined Realms, an annual art publication featuring positive and diverse representations of women in fantasy and science fiction. Each book will feature 10 exclusive and new illustrations created by me specifically for the book.
Available for purchase are the printed books, 6”x8” and 11”x14” print packs that have all 10 illustrations, limited edition fine art giclees, and a downloadable process video showing my digital painting method.
Please check it out and spread the word!

Just a semi-finished sketch of some frolicking beefy centaur dudes, inspired by draft horses . :B
New Illustration: Space Sirens
The last remaining astronaut watched helplessly as his comrades left the ship one by one and were carried away. He told himself that he would not succumb the way his shipmates had; he knew he would struggle. But the creatures, if they could even be called that, somehow seemed to know him, and when his turn came and the singing of the cosmos reached a crescendo in his ears, his mind emptied of all but the desire to join them in the void. Gazing into the creature’s face, he mused on how tender, how gentle its embrace seemed to be, and even as his oxygen supply dwindled he did not resist.
New Art: “Ariadne”
Ariadne takes matters into her own hands and deals with the Minotaur herself.
I have been wanting to assemble a huge post of some of the amazing women artists out there, because it seems like too often they get overlooked when it comes to being honored and recognized. This year, I was incredibly honored to be nominated for a Hugo award in the Best Professional Artist category, but I was a little shocked to find out there hadn’t been another woman nominated in that category since Rowena Morrill in 1986. That’s more than a little ridiculous, considering there are so many women artists out there, they are all amazing, and they all need more visibility and recognition. I encourage you to browse through and visit their websites, and please reblog and add more artists to the list! I know this is NOWHERE near comprehensive and that are tons more artists out there.
This list mostly covers mostly professional illustrators and scifi/fantasy artists. I know I’m missing out on a ton of talented people in comics, animation, fine art, and people who do primarily fan work, but I don’t know quite as much about those areas so they aren’t as well represented here; my apologies.
(The tags got cut off; I guess there’s a limit now? As such I wasn’t able to tag every single artist included.)
Click the “read more” to check out the art! Warning: This list is HUGE, and very image intensive!

Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
